Jana Spicka and Women Getting Real Ministries
Jana’s Biography
Jana is a motivating and challenging teacher. Her transparency about her own redeemed life coupled with a true intimacy with God gives her an unparalleled voice to address the unmentionables of the Christian life: beauty, eating disorders, porn, abortion, sex, loneliness, anger, numbness.
Jana combines real life stories, the power of scripture and a fresh honesty that deeply impacts her audience. She doesn’t hand out pat surface answers but deep truths of the living God. Whenever she speaks, women from all ages and walks of life respond to her invitation to go deeper into Jesus.
Part of Jana’s appeal is her relentless pursuit of “telling it like it is.” Audiences are refreshed by her realness and courage to talk about real life topics. She has journeyed through much heartache personally, so to hear her talk of hope, desire and God’s strong love for her without shame or compromise, is inspirational and inviting.
She began sharing her story 6 months after a radical encounter with God in 1992. She then spent the next 10 years teaching thousands of students about the consequences of sex outside of marriage and how to build healthy relationships. Her abstinence materials are still used across the U.S. and Canada.
In 2006, she began writing with a refined focus on the worth of women. She launched the ‘Unhindered Encounters,” which are events that strip away the culture’s lie that a woman’s purpose is for consumption, and instead steep women instead in God’s truth about their glory.
Jana is author of the women’s book, Unhindered, and The Locket and the Mask, a children’s book promoting self-esteem and purity. Jana released her first worship CD, Daughters of Song, in 2002, and her second CD, Unhindered, in 2007. Her song, “Life is Sacred”, was part of the Sanctity of Life package available through Focus on the Family. She was featured on Family Life Today for the booklet “Celebrating Jesus, How to Keep Christ in Christmas.”
She founded Women Getting Real in May of 2009, a ministry designed to empower, equip and release women into their God-given design. She leads a weekly community class of the same name.
In May of 2010 she traveled to Zimbabwe where she shared her message at high schools and women’s retreats. She has a popular daily blog and has released her newest book, a devotional, called “Dine with Me” and a new worship CD called, “Real.Life.”
Jana lived abroad for many years before returning to her roots in Knoxville, Tennessee where she makes her home with her husband, Chuck and their two daughters, Salem and Charis. She is a graduate of Maryville College.
Her sole mission is to rescue women and men and lead them into the presence of God.
