Unhindered Encounter

A candid conversation about how we’ve formed our definition of beauty, what it is costing us emotionally, how it effects our choices in relationships, how porn poisons our perceptions and how the God has more than pat answers to offer to all of this.

A powerful weekend to be washed by Truth.

the message

Really the cry of our hearts as women is to be known, loved and enjoyed. For many of us, that natural God-given desire has been lost along the way. It was perhaps stolen from us by some violent act in our youth. Or it was wasted by us on someone else in an attempt to find satisfaction. We are so hungry for fulfillment that many of us have gone from relationship to obsession to addiction to try to find the missing piece.

Unhindered is about taking a good look at what our vain efforts have cost us: eating disorders, sexual scars, abortion, adultery, addictions…simple self-hatred. Our hearts are numb to God, to ourselves, to others. And of course, for many of us, all this goes on behind our Sunday School faces.

But the Unhindered journey doesn’t stop there. We take an even longer look at what God has to say about all these issues. Does God care about our broken hearts? Does God have a cure? Does God see more than our mess? Can we have more?

His answer? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

the event

“That could not have come at the most perfect time than right now in my life. Thank you for this reminder of GOD being our everything for peace in life.”
Unhindered Attendee

A lot of women tell us that Unhindered is not like other women’s conferences. When we ask them how it is different the answer is often the same, “It is so real. You all get to the heart of what is really going on in my life. I don’t have to pretend that everything is fine when I am falling apart.”

At the Unhindered Encounter we use live worship, teaching, the Bible, multi-media, meditation, and friend-talk to unveil the honest questions that plague us as women. Questions about beauty, worth, sex, men. But we also spend time asking God what he thinks about us and these questions.

We want women to walk away from Unhindered with a sense that God cares about their broken hearts. Even more – we want them to know He has a life of freedom for them.

As one woman put it: “This weekend was powerful, transforming, revealing and life changing. I have never felt so loved on by the Lord. Thank you. Your willingness to be vulnerable made this happen, not just for me, but for every participant.”

the testimonies

“The Unhindered Encounter is a rich worship experience, not just a spiritualized diatribe against forces of misogyny in our culture. At the end of the UE, I felt like I had been washed in God’s light. I felt settled in His love. I was better prepared to love my daughters and their friends. There was a delight between God and I that was a quiet joy to me. I encourage you to go; it’s worth your time.”

-Suzanne Stelling, Women’s Director Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, TN Feb 2011

“Jana’s joyful spirit was evident from the moment we met, and her love for the Lord and His women captivated hearts of women aching to know Him more … the response has been incredible, and we are so thankful for the privilege of her time with us … it has been a true starting point for our women getting real!”

-Kate Kinnan, Adult Ministry Director, Rapid City, South Dakota, March 2011
